Michael Nicoll Jr. adores people and dogs, and both play a major role in helping to shape his life. As founder and owner of A Chauffeur For Hire, a designated driver transportation service, he meets and engages with a diverse clientele ranging from famous athletes and high-powered executives and lively teenage prom goers, Michael has become a master at the art of hospitality. As dad to Chubs, an energetic 18-month-old American Red Nose Pitbull Terrier, he continues to sharpen his patience and forgiveness skills.

“The best part of my job is interacting with our clients. There’s nothing that makes me feel better than seeing our customers happy,” he says. Growing up in the transportation business (his father Michael Nicoll Sr. is the owner of Nicoll’s Limousine Service), Michael Jr. understood early on the importance of following your passion. “I worked for my dad’s transportation business and found that I really enjoyed it. My parents wanted me to do my own thing, so I became a personal chauffeur and would drive clients in their own vehicles.”

As his personal driver business, launched in 2021, was thriving, Michael began purchasing vehicles to expand his company’s services. “I bought a Cadillac SUV, then a limousine and kept adding to the fleet, so we could drive clients in their own cars or in our luxury vehicles,” he explains. Currently the company employs eight licensed and insured chauffeurs, all of whom are personally vetted and hand-selected by Michael. “I look at A Chauffeur For Hire as a hospitality business, so customer service and safety are our main priorities. I choose drivers who are sociable, responsible and enjoy taking care of people.” His professional drivers do everything from picking up a client’s child from school and running errands, to wedding and prom limo rides and sightseeing tours.

The enterprising 33-year-old continues to expand his personal driver business with the addition of A Captain For Hire, in which a trained boat captain takes over the helm of your personal boat. “I’m a big fan of boats, so it was a no-brainer to expand the business to include boats,” says Michael, who currently holds a 100-Ton Master Captain’s License and will soon graduate to a 200-Ton. He will soon be working towards a pilot’s license, so he will be adding A Pilot For Hire, where a team of trained pilots will fly your private plane.

Michael was raised in a house filled with pets including dogs, cats and rabbits. “We had a zoo!” As for his lovable pooch Chubs, she helps out with the business, too. “When I’m washing cars, she loves playing with the hose. She makes a big mess, but I like to think it’s her way of helping out. She’s a real character and keeps me on his toes. When I’m not at home, she takes my shoes, puts them in the bed and sleeps with them. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve jumped into bed to find a shoe!”
